Larimer County Commissioners Issue Proclamation for Women's Right to Vote and Equality Day August 26, 2025

At their meeting on Tuesday, August 19, the Larimer County Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation for Women's Right to Vote and Equality Day. The Commissioners "recognize the accomplishments that so many women fought to achieve, and rededicate ourselves to tackling the challenges that remain and expanding opportunity and representation for women and girls in Larimer County and Colorado."

NOCO NOW chapter president, Annmarie Izuel Evans, was one of many invited guests who thanked the Commissioners for their work in support of women in Larimer County.

Ironically, this Women's Equality Day, women are feeling less and less equal. While President Biden declared the Equal Rights Amendment to be the law of the land, the 28th Amendment has not been officially added to the U.S. Constitution by the archivist. Despite achieving the required number of state ratifications, the ERA is not yet part of the Constitution, its ultimate fate still unresolved. Women lost the right to body autonomy when the Roe decision was overturned in 2022. Today there are even conservative groups who want to actually repeal the 19th amendment taking the right to vote away from women.
